Online training: Data Protection Awareness

Practical data protection basics for the secure handling of personal data in everyday working life.

In around 64 minutes, our course covers the most important fundamentals and recommendations for the secure and responsible handling of personal data. The training is suitable as data protection training in accordance with the GDPR, in particular for raising awareness and training employees within the meaning of Article 39(1)(a) and (b) of the GDPR, as well as a supporting organisational measure within the framework of Articles 29 and 32 of the GDPR. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate of attendance to download. Companies also benefit from a central admin interface for managing users, assigning courses and tracking participation progress.

Legal basis / compliance support

The training supports companies in raising awareness and training employees on data protection. In particular, it can be used as an organisational component for the implementation and documentation of awareness and training measures within the meaning of Article 39(1)(a) and (b) of the GDPR. There are also relevant links to Article 29 of the GDPR, as individuals with access to personal data may only act on the instructions of the controller or processor, as well as to Article 32 of the GDPR as part of appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure the security of processing.

Suitable target groups

Suitable for all employees with access to personal data, in particular those in administration, human resources, customer service, sales, medical, care or educational sectors, managers, as well as employees working from home or using mobile work equipment.

Certificate of participation and administration

Upon successful completion, a certificate of attendance is available for users to download. For companies, the training platform offers a central admin interface through which users can be managed, training courses assigned and attendance records clearly tracked. This allows mandatory training, awareness measures and evidence of completion to be organised in a structured manner.

Course content

The training is modular in structure and conveys the most important content in a concise, understandable manner with direct relevance to everyday working life:

Chapter Content
Basics The training begins with the key data protection concepts: Who is protected by data protection, what are personal data and special categories of personal data, and who can employees contact with data protection queries?
Principles Participants learn about the key principles of data protection, including purpose limitation, lawfulness, responsibilities, and the circumstances under which personal data may be processed.
Requirements The course explains when personal data is considered to be adequately protected, which organisational requirements must be observed, and when a data processing agreement may be required.
Confidentiality A key focus is on the confidential handling of personal data and on the correct approach to sensitive information.
Data protection in everyday life Using concrete examples, the course demonstrates how data can be protected in day-to-day work through simple measures, such as the need-to-know principle, pseudonymisation and data minimisation.
Mobile working and working from home Participants receive guidance on mobile access to company data, the use of company devices, web meetings and telephone calls, as well as relevant security measures in a private setting.
What to do in an emergency The course explains what a data protection incident or data breach is, how employees should react in the event of an incident, and where an incident should be reported.
Private life and social media Finally, the course addresses the responsible use of social media and digital services, including personal rights and the protection of one’s own data online.
